Johannesburg Pride 2020 Goes Virtual

Month-long African Pride celebrations conclude this Saturday, 31 October with Johannesburg Pride.

Due to the global Coronavirus pandemic , Johannesburg Pride will be virtual, streaming for free on digital platforms.

The event will stream LIVE on the Johannesburg Pride YouTube channel from 12pm to 6pm.

“To assist in making this a bit more accessible, you won’t have to pay or register to view the event on our YouTube channel and Vodacom has given us a Pride data bundle that is R12 for 1G of data,” said the organisation in a social media post announcement.

South African Vodacom customers can sms PRIDE to 31118 to take advantage of the data deal.

The celebration will be hosted by Lebo Molax with performances by Yahto, Deejay Puggy, Kxng B the Great, DJ Bizkit,  DJ Skye, DJ Ugin The Muzikal Frik, Olwee, Mrizee, Lou Lou Blu and more.

If you prefer more reality than virtual then head to Illovo Muse to watch the stream from participating venues Babylon and Priscilla’s at no cost until 6pm. A limited amount of people will be allowed in Illovo Muse to watch the livestream so be sure to arrive early as it’s a first come, first served situation.

“Please be mindful that we are still in the middle of a pandemic so a strict first come first entry will be enforced. We cannot guarantee everyone will get inside but Illovo Muse has a host of restaurants and bars to accommodate early patrons.”

The party continues from 6pm until curfew. Johannesburg Pride has partnered with Babylon to be the official afterparty with DJ Fresh and Euphonik on the decks. Entrance is R150.
