Ford GT Heritage Edition

Back in the 60s Henry Ford and Enzo Ferrari were in talks around the idea of Ford purchasing a stake in Ferrari. The discussions did not go well and in the end Ford went home empty handed. This was the beginning of a huge rivalry between the two rather stubborn and hard headed men and Ford was determined to beat Ferrari at their own game.

He instructed his engineers to do whatever thay had to, to build a car that would win at Le Mans. The result was the Ford GT 40 so named because it was just 40 inches high. The GT 40 would go on to win at Le mans in 1966, 67, 68 and 69 and is the only American car to win it.

Ford has announced that the 2021 GT Heritage Edition will be inspired by the bold white, black and red exterior of the 1966 endurance-winning Ford GT40 MK II race car.

The Heritage Edition will have Frozen White exterior paint with an exposed carbon fibre hood adding stark contrast. Asymmetrical Race Red accents on the front fascia and roof edge, driver’s side door and underneath the rear wing add distinct visuals, while exposed carbon fibre shapes the signature 98 roundel graphics and speak to the supercar’s lightweight body.

Unique Ford graphics on the lower rear-quarter panels plus one-piece Heritage Gold 20-inch forged aluminum wheels paired with red lacquered Brembo monoblock brake calipers complete this new exterior.

The interior features black Alcantara wrapping the instrument panel, headliner and steering wheel, while anodised red paddle shifters and red Alcantara suede performance seats add dramatic contrast.

To top the Heritage edition line up 40 cars will be available with the “Studio Edition” package, the body and graphics can be customised with seven standard colours or further personalised with an extended palette offering endless colour combinations for even greater exclusivity.

The graphics package highlights key styling elements, including the functional cooling ducts that help the GT deliver all 660 horsepower during the most strenuous, high-temperature sessions at the track.
